Nkwanta South MCE presents sanitary pads to support girl-child education

Mr Joseph Antwi Awal, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Nkwanta South Municipality, has presented sanitary pads to students in the area, to promote girl-child education and reduce absenteeism in schools, particularly during menstrual periods.
Mr Awal speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the donation was part of government’s broader efforts to improve menstrual hygiene and keep girls in school.
He said the sanitary pads were expected to have a positive impact on the students, boosting their confidence and enabling them to focus on their studies without worrying about menstrual hygiene.
Mr Jonathan Korsinah, the Municipal Director of Education, at a brief event expressed his gratitude to the MCE for the donation and commended him for his thoughtful gesture, which would go a long way to support adolescent girls’ education and promote menstrual hygiene in schools.

He also praised the MCE for his commitment towards improving education at Nkwanta South, saying that his efforts were making tangible differences in the lives of students and teachers.
Mr John Kwadwo Gyapong, Oti Regional Minister, took the opportunity to advise students to preach peace within the Nkwanta South, emphasising that it was essential for development and prosperity in the region.
Mr Gyapong encouraged students to be ambassadors of peace in their communities, promoting understanding, tolerance, and coexistence among all people.
He stated that although the Municipality has faced challenges in the past, with peace, it could move forward and achieve its full potential.
