Sekondi-Takoradi Metro observes National Sanitation Day

The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) on Saturday organised a clean-up exercise across the metropolis as part of the National Sanitation Day.
Some residents, shop owners, transport operators, and businesses among others participated in the exercise to clean their frontages to promote a safe and cleaner environment across the metropolis.

Mr Frederick F. Faidoo, the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), who led the exercise, said it was to rid the metropolis of filth and desilt choked drains to ensure a healthy and safe environment for the people of Sekondi-Takoradi.
He, however, expressed dissatisfaction about the low participation of residents in the National Sanitation Day across the metropolis.
The MCE said he was not impressed by the low turnout of residents in participating in the exercise to ensure a clean metropolis for residents.
Mr Faidoo said: “For the Sanitation Day activities today, I am not satisfied at all because I can see commercial activities going on when the people should all have stopped to take part in cleaning up their surroundings.”
Mr Faidoo, however, stated that the Assembly would devise appropriate strategies to ensure the full participation of all residents in the subsequent editions to be organised, saying; “It is for our own good so we must show concern and be totally involved.”
