DVLA to introduce digitalise number plate system-Chief Executive Officer

Mr Julius Neequaye Kotey, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Driver Vehicle and Licensing Authority (DVLA) says the Authority will introduce digitalise number plate system in the country soon.

He emphasised that the system would greatly improve security and provide “security apparatus with instant information through scanning making more efficient in its data systems”, adding that authority “is changing the existing number plate because it’s so polarized”.

The CEO said this when speaking at the inauguration of the Dormaa-Ahenkro office of the DVLA in the Bono Region.

Mr Kotey said the DVLA intended to embark on community engagement programmes to sensitize the masses about the new number plate system and also establish a compliance office at Dormaa-Ahenkro.

He said, “The personnel of the compliance office will be on the streets to check driving skills, fake license, fire extinguisher and triangles”, and warned that drivers who would be found wanting would be prosecuted accordingly.

Mr Kotey commended Mr John Adu Jack, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Dormaa Central Constituency for his contributions towards the opening of the Dormaa-Ahenkro DVLA office and thanked the Dormaa Traditional Council for its intention provide the authority with a land to put up a permanent office.

He said with a permanent office, the DVLA would enhance and expand their operations and recruit more personnel from the area.

Barimah Buabasa Oppong Yaw Ababio, the Gyasehene (sub-chief) of the Dormaa Traditional Council called on the Authority to set up a driving school in the area.
