Pre-school teachers in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality of the Ashanti Region, have been urged to handle their pupils with utmost care and patience to help identify and develop their talents early.
Mr Wisdom Osei Boamah, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area, who made the call, said helping to identify and unearth the talents of the children early was the surest way to develop their skills to make them great and useful citizens not only for their communities, but the country as a whole.
Interacting with children of some early childhood schools in the Municipality, Mr Boamah said laying the right foundation by identifying and developing the skills of children early were crucial at the basic level of the educational ladder.
Among the schools visited were the Nkawie, Kuffour, Atwima Agogo M/A basic schools as well as the Islamic basic school at Nkawie.
Mr Boamah also distributed learning materials to the pupils as part of his official visit to the schools to show his commitment to education and future of the children.
He appealed to the teachers and other stakeholders to commit themselves to the children’s education to enable them achieve higher academic laurels in future.
Nana Pokuah Amoako, the Municipal Director of Education, urged the teachers to strictly observe the time table for the academic year to favour all the children in the various fields of academic, sports and other activities.
This, she said would help the teachers to identify the best abilities of their pupils within the year and also in their future school selection and placements in rightful second cycle institutions.
Mrs Faustina Akyeremu, Headmistress of Kuffour Basic School, commended the dignitaries for their commitment towards education and improved academic standards in the area.
