The Ashanti South Regional Police Command, headquartered at Bekwai, has received a brand-new Pickup truck from A.M Trust Company, a Ghanaian firm to support security operations.

The vehicles would also be used in activities to curtail illegal mining, rampant robbery and other negative vices in the area.

A.M Trust Company, a Ghanaian-owned firm that specialises in the supply and sale of heavy-duty machinery for mining, industrial construction, energy and quarry activities.

Mr. Enock Osei Tutu, Chief Operating Officer and General Manager of A.M. Trust Company, at a short ceremony to hand over the vehicle to the security officers, underscored the need for citizens to contribute and promote security and peacebuilding.

He said public and private entities required sound ecosystems to operate, adding that, the swift actions of the security, especially the police, mattered most in that drive.

He said: “This presentation, therefore, goes a long way to affirm my Company’s readiness to help the police foil crime activities in Bekwai and its environs.

In combating crime, there should be efficiency, and the vehicle will ease the movement of officers.”

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Joseph Nyaaba, Ashanti South Regional Police Commander, said the gift from A.M. Trust had come at an opportune time to help the police to effectively discharge their duties.

He mentioned that the vehicle would be handed over to the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) to deepen the efforts in investigative activities.

According to him, the Command, through the (PID) recently pursued six notorious robbers and retrieved rifles.

ACP Nyaaba appreciated the company and appealed to other stakeholders to take keen interest in resourcing the police with logistical support in combating crime and ensuring peace in communities.
