Mr. Sylvester Amakye, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Assin North, has visited four basic schools in the district to mark this year’s “My First Day at School” at the start of the 2025/2026 academic year.

The initiative, observed nationwide, welcomes newly enrolled pupils of public basic schools to help them settle into their new environment.

The schools visited included Assin Kushea Presbyterian Basic School, Assin Kushea Anglican Basic School, Assin Kyiano Basic School, and Assin Asempanaye Catholic Basic School.

Mr. Amakye distributed pencils, exercise books, sharpeners, erasers, soft drinks, and biscuits to the pupils to make them feel at home. He also donated seven hexagonal tables and 42 chairs to some of the schools to enhance teaching and learning at the kindergarten level.

Highlighting the importance of education to national development, the DCE said children must be equipped with knowledge, skills, and aptitude to compete globally. He reaffirmed government’s commitment to strengthening the educational system and urged parents to enroll their children and ensure they remain in school for a brighter future.

Mr. Ahmed Tijani Hassan, District Director of Education, commended the DCE for the gesture and encouraged school authorities to handle the items with care.
