Mr James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, has reassured traditional authorities in the Fodome Traditional Area of the completion of the Fodome Campus of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS).

He said the completion of the Campus, would open the area for business and the government was committed to complete it for academic activities.

Addressing chiefs and queen mothers of the Fodome Traditional Area during a working visit to the Hohoe Municipality, Mr Gunu said the 2026 national budget would make provision for the completion of the UHAS Fodome campus project.

He said the Municipality was benefitting from nine roads under the Urban Roads including the Fodome to Hohoe road network.

Mr Gunu said he would continue to work with traditional and religious leaders for the development of the region because that was the best thing to do.

Mr Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo, Member of Parliament (MP) for Hohoe Constituency, said the phase one of the UHAS campus project at Fodome was expected to be completed as soon as possible while efforts were being made for the completion of the entire project.

He said the Fodome to Hohoe road would also be completed soon looking at the pace and progress of work by the contractor.

Mr Tsekpo called on the traditional authorities to encourage the youth to take advantage of government’s programmes and initiatives to better their lives.

Mr Prosper Kumi, Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), said the hope was that academic activities would begin at the Fodome Campus in the 2026 academic year.

He said government’s monetary releases to the Assembly were forthcoming hence projects would be championed across the Municipality.

Togbega Gbedegbleme Akpatsa II, Paramount Chief of Fodome Traditional Area, said the completion of the UHAS Fodome campus would boost the local economy hence all efforts must be made for work to be completed adding that “what is on our heart is the University.”

He said the police post at Fodome was under-staffed and called on the Volta North Regional Command to fill the gap to enhance security.

Togbega Akpatsa urged the Regional Minister, the MP and the MCE to work together to ensure that road network within the Municipality was improved.

The Regional Minister and his entourage also met with the Muslim community in the Municipality to wrap up the day one of his working tour in the area.
