Three pregnant girls and three nursing mothers are among the 897 candidates writing the ongoing 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) at the Kadjebi-Asato Senior High School (KASEC) Examination Centre.
The candidates comprise 404 males and 497 females, spread across three centres.
Mr. Francis Bodzonah, Supervisor at the centre and Assistant Headmaster in- charge of Academics, disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) during a monitoring visit to the centre on Monday, August 25, 2025, when the candidates sat for the Social Studies paper.
He said two candidates were absent during the paper; but the examination was progressing smoothly.
Commenting on the presence of pregnant girls and nursing mothers among the candidates, a Reverend Minister expressed concern over underage girls becoming pregnant while still in school and blamed the situation on what he described as a “decline in morality”.
In total, the Kadjebi District has registered 1,171 candidates for the 2025 WASSCE, comprising 570 males and 601 females, drawn from the three senior high schools in the district.
