The Right Reverend Dr. Lt. Col. Bliss Divine Agbeko (RTD), Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG), said caring for creation is not just an environmental issue but a moral and spiritual imperative.
“Our actions today impact future generations positively or negatively,” he stated.
Rt. Rev. Agbeko said this at the ninth annual conference and training workshop of Heads, Chaplains and Managers of EPCG schools at Sogakope.
The three-day conference was on the theme: “Care for Creation: the Task and Mission of the EPCG stakeholders in Education.”
It provided the platform for participants to brainstorm, collaborate and share best practices to improve learning outcomes and promote discipline in their institutions.
The Moderator noted that the theme resonated deeply with their Christian values and responsibility as stewards of God’s creation.
He told the participants that as they strived for excellence in education, they should not forget the importance of discipline.
He said discipline was not just about rules and regulations, but about developing self-control, responsibility and strong work ethics.
“As Christians we believe that discipline is essential for spiritual growth, and service to God and mankind.
“Let us work together to promote a culture of discipline and responsibility in our schools,” he stressed.
Rt. Rev. Agbeko noted that a strong school culture was built on discipline, respect and responsibility, and urged the participants to forge a culture of discipline, encourage self-control, punctuality and accountability among students in their various schools.
The Moderator asked them to promote positive relationships built on mutual respect, empathy and understanding.
He entreated them to integrate Christian values and principles in their schools to become responsible students.
The Moderator intimated that the Bremen Mission legacy in education and community development served as a foundation for their continued work.
He said as stakeholders they should build on that foundation by renewing their commitment to education and prioritizing quality education, vocational training and character development.
He said there was the need to raise the standards of education in all EPCG schools across the country.
He informed them that the Church was repositioning its schools to equip learners with 21st century skills and to raise the right caliber of workforce for positive learning outcomes.
