The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) is set to build an ultra-modern district office in the Kpone-Katamanso Municipality in the Greater Accra Region.
Mr Samuel Sowah Oblejumah, Greater Accra Regional Director of the NHIA, speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Kpone, during a site visit, stated that the visit was to inspect the parcel of land dedicated to the construction of the NHIA district office for the people of Kpone-Katamanso.
Mr Oblejumah further noted that all stakeholders have been duly informed, and the project was expected to commence within two weeks.
He said the contractor and the consultant have put the needed preparation to ensure the project is executed within the stipulated period
Mr Joseph Akwerteh Tettey, Member of Parliament for the Kpone-Katamanso Cconstituency, hinted that the facility would enhance health services within the municipality.
According to him, most constituents had to commute to other districts to register for their health insurance card or get it renewed, stressing that the district office when completed would cater for all those inconveniences.
Mr Tettey further stated that the project when commenced is expected to be completed within eight months, saying Kpone-Katamanso have been elevated to a metropolitan status, and it was therefore important that such facilities were built to complement their elevation.
Mr Samuel Tetteh Quashie Morton, the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Chief Executive, welcomed the vision to construct such a facility in the mmunicipality, noting that all relevant documents for the demarcated land were ready.
He said the traditional authorities have verified the documents, stressing that there would not be any litigation as far as the land for the NHIA district office in Kpone was concerned.
The Ghana News Agency observed that a team from the regional office of the NHIA and officers from the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly visited the site before the project commenced in two weeks’ time.
