Kweku Kum appointed to Tree Crops Development Authority Board

The government has appointed Mr Kweku Kum, a former Information Systems and Quality Manager at the Ghana Rubber Estate Limited (GREL), as a member of the Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA) Board.

Mr Kum, who is also the Board Chairman for the Kings Group of Companies in Takoradi, would represent the Association of Self-Finance Outgrowers (ASFRO) on the TCDA Board.

Reacting to his appointment, he said he would play a crucial role in supporting the TCDA’s efforts to promote the development of the tree crop sector in Ghana.

He stated that his experience as Information Systems and Quality at GREL made him well-suited to help the TCDA’s efforts to promote the economic development of the tree crop sector.

The TCDA, which was established by an Act of Parliament in 2019, is to regulate and develop the production, processing, and trading of six tree crops in Ghana, including cashew, shea, mango, coconut, rubber, and oil palm.

The TCDA’s mandate includes providing technical advice to farmers, processors, and traders, as well as undertaking research and development to improve upon the productivity and competitiveness of the sector.
