Stakeholders trained on digital climate portal

A stakeholder training workshop aimed at equipping local government officials, stakeholders, and security agencies with digital tools to address climate change and promote sustainable development has been held in Bekwai in the Ashanti Region.
The workshop introduced participants to the Climate Risk and Vulnerability Information Portal (CRVIP), a geospatial platform designed to support climate data analysis and informed decision-making at the local level.
The event, organised by the African Foundation for Climate Change and Sustainable Development (AFCCSD) in collaboration with the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), formed part of Ghana’s national climate adaptation strategy.
It is funded by the Green Climate Fund under the United Nations Environment Programme.
Participants included staff from the Bekwai Municipal Assembly’s Development Planning Unit, Statistical and Agricultural Departments, EPA, civil society organizations, and selected security agencies.
Mr. Francis Aforve, the Executive Director of AFCCSD, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), stated that the portal provides a secure, centralized hub for accessing climate and risk data critical for planning and intervention.
Participants including Prof. Thompson Annor from KNUST and Madam Sheila Rosetta Arthur, Municipal Coordinating Director, described the initiative as vital for strengthening resilience, reducing climate-related risks, and enhancing collaboration.
They also encouraged the public to adopt responsible environmental practices to support national climate goals.
