Sunyani West MP donates mathematical sets to BECE candidates

Ms. Millicent Yeboah Amankwaah, the Member of Parliament for Sunyani West, has donated 2,700 mathematical sets to some candidates writing this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the constituency.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, the MP said donation was her widow’s mite to support and inspire the candidates in the examination, saying “mathematics is a crucial subject, and every student deserves to have the necessary tools to tackle the questions”.

Ms Amankwaah advised the candidates to eschew examination malpractices, saying that could lead to the cancellation of their results or subjects and potentially truncate their educational career.

She encouraged them to rather trust in their abilities and remained confident, saying examination malpractice was not only unethical, but undermined validity of their certificates, urging them to manage the time for the exams effectively.

“Always read carefully and understand the questions before attempting to answer them,” the MP advised the candidates, entreating them to remain calm and focused.

Ms. Amankwaah reminded the candidates that they could only seek help from the invigilators whenever they encountered challenges and urged them to refrain from interacting with their colleagues in the exam hall.
