A man believed to be in his 20s onboard a commercial vehicle from Tema to Kasoa, on Tuesday, received prompt help from fellow passengers after experiencing a medical emergency.
According to the passengers, the man suddenly became unresponsive, shouting for help and indicating that he could not open his hands to give his fare to the vehicle’s conductor (driver’s mate.)
They added that moments later, his body became stiff, making them panic. Some passengers quickly called for the driver to stop the vehicle, and they assisted in bringing him out.
He was carefully laid on the ground on the roadside, attracting a crowd, some of whom offered help, including giving him water and trying to comfort him.
They noted that even though they were willing to rush him to the hospital, they did not know which hospital to take him to due to the ongoing strike by the Ghana Nurses and Midwives Association (GNMA).
Some of the eyewitnesses also called both the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and the Ghana National Ambulance Service, which both arrived on the scene within minutes.
Fire officers who reached the scene first handed him over to the ambulance team, who placed him on a stretcher and transported him to a nearby hospital.
