Children Believe launches seven-year Country Strategic Plan

Children Believe in Ghana has officially launched its seven-year Country Strategic Plan at a ceremony in Tamale bringing together key stakeholders.
The Country Strategic Plan dubbed: “The Bold Ambition”, aims to increase the reach and impact, double the income and the recognition of Children Believe in Ghana by the year 2031.
Per the plan, from April 2025 to March, 2026, Children Believe in Ghana will construct 10 standard kindergarten classroom blocks, one Child Welfare Clinic, mechanised boreholes and other soft interventions to empower communities.
Mrs Esenam Kavi De Souza, Country Director of Children Believe in Ghana, speaking during the launch, said the seven-year Country Strategic Plan would focus on five programmatic/development areas, including improving the quality of education, health and nutrition, child protection and participation, gender equality and social inclusion, as well as youth employability and economic empowerment.
She announced plans to expand operations into the Oti and Bono Regions, reflecting the organisation’s growth trajectory.
She reflected on the achievements of the organisation’s past strategic work, which included significant advancements in building 30 standard kindergarten blocks to promote access and quality education in many underserved communities, construction of child welfare centres, provision of mechanised boreholes to communities, schools and health facilities and other software targeting behavioural change amongst communities.


Mrs De Souza expressed gratitude to donors such as Global Affairs Canada, KOICA, Child Fund Korea, Australia Aid, and stakeholders such as the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service, Ghana Health Service, and the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection for their support over the years.
Mr Ibrahim Tia, North East Regional Minister, commended Children Believe and its donors for their significant contribution to development, especially in the North East Region.
He mentioned some of the interventions of Children Believe in the area, which included the construction of nine standard kindergarten classroom blocks equipped with sanitary facilities and plans to build an additional 12 classrooms in the next two years.
He mentioned the recent provision of a borehole for the Nanyire community as evidence of Children Believe’s dedication to equitable development.
He pledged his unwavering support for initiatives aimed at the protection and empowerment of children.
Mr Richard Nana Baffour Awuah, Director of Pre-Tertiary Education, Ministry of Education, reiterated the Ministry’s strong history of collaboration with Children Believe.
He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to the partnership with Children Believe, emphasising the importance of shared goals and objectives for future endeavours.
He said the seven-year Country Strategic Plan aligned with the resetting agenda of the government.
Professor Ibrahim Mohammed Gunu, Dean of Faculty of Education, University for Development Studies, expressed optimism that the seven-year Country Strategic Plan would help bridge poverty gaps and address the needs of vulnerable children in deprived communities.
Madam Adisa Tssa, National Early Childhood Education Director, commended Children Believe for providing kindergarten infrastructure for schools.
She said, “The fact is that if children and teachers at the kindergarten do not have a conducive learning environment, they may not be able to thrive and achieve the needed indicators. Hence, Children Believe is contributing to building a stronger foundation for children to start their lives and education right.”
