A devastating fire has caused extensive damages at Maaha Beach Resort and Vision Beach Resort in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region.
The blaze started around 1900 hours on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Vision Beach, and spread to Maaha Beach Resort, causing extensive damages to properties in both facilities.
About 15 rooms at Vision Beach, including their kitchen and reception, and about 18 rooms at Maaha Beach Resort were razed by the fire.
Divisional Officer (DO) II, Mark Hamilton, Ellembelle District Fire Commander, said the Service received a distress call about a fire incident at about 1959 hours, and a tender was quickly dispatched to the scene.
He said: “When we got to the scene, we realised that in addition to Maaha, Vision Beach was also involved in the fire incident, and we were able to bring it under control finally extinguished it.”
According to him, no casualties were recorded, and that investigation were underway to ascertain the cause of the fire.
