Otto Addo, Head Coach of the Black Stars of Ghana has resolutely stated that he will not resign from his position despite the team’s recent difficulties, with Ghana losing 2-1 to Niger in their final Group F match in Ghana.
“I have come too far in my coaching journey to let pressure affect my decision” he said Responding to calls for his resignation.
He made it clear that the criticism and calls to quit would not affect him, affirming his commitment to moving the national team forward.
“I am not someone who can resign. If I had, I would never have become a player or even a coach. If you know where I came from as a person to reach this position, don’t even ask me about my resignation. People shouting and telling me to resign cannot influence me,” said Addo.
He acknowledged the team’s struggles but highlighted some positive performances and asked the media and fans to support the players instead of blaming them.
“We started well but conceded a goal from a set piece.
We know this because the last time we met they scored from a corner. Obviously we need to defend better in these areas. Everything seems to be going against us. There are some positives, especially from players who had never played before, but played well today. »
“The media has the power to control the narrative of the games, not just the results. You have the power to lift someone’s spirits,” he said. “I really need to leave the players alone because they gave us everything,” said Addo. He also called for peace before the December elections.
