Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale has revealed a remarkable experience he had while recording his 2022 hit single, “On God.” Speaking on Efia Odo’s Rants, Bants and Confessions show, Shatta Wale claimed that angels were in the room with him during the song’s creation, attributing a spiritual energy to the track.
The “Kakai” hitmaker explained that comparisons with fellow artist Black Sherif were a driving force behind “On God.” “I was motivated by doubters and naysayers who tried to compare me to Black Sherif,” Shatta Wale shared. “That energy drove me to create something special, and ‘On God’ was born.”
Reflecting on the intense inspiration he felt, he described the process as deeply spiritual. “When I was recording, I felt like angels were sitting with me. Sometimes, when I see all these comparisons, I think, ‘Don’t try to challenge what you don’t understand.’”
Shatta Wale further likened himself to powerful figures and symbols in the Ghanaian entertainment scene. “I am like a phoenix in this industry. People should understand that I am not just any artist you can take lightly,” he declared, adding, “When you touch Shatta Wale, it’s serious. Even angels like Michael, and figures like Noah and the biblical trio of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego would not be happy.”
Through “On God,” Shatta Wale cemented his role as a trailblazer in Ghanaian music, captivating fans and reinforcing his reputation as one of the industry’s most resilient and innovative artists.
