A waste of money better spent on real estate – Shatta Wale criticizes Sarkodie’s music

Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale recently criticized Sarkodie, claiming that his extensive investment in music videos has been unwise. Speaking on Rants, Bants, and Confession on October 31, 2024, Shatta Wale, known for his hit “On God,” argued that the money Sarkodie has poured into music videos to gain international attention would have been better spent on ventures like real estate.

“Sarkodie has worked so hard that he should be a top name internationally, performing at the level of Burna Boy and Wizkid. But all this investment in videos has been wasted. He could have built malls and fuel stations instead, yet he’s still not at their level,” he remarked.

Shatta Wale further suggested that Sarkodie’s limited international presence compared to Burna Boy and Wizkid is due to his willingness to be influenced by Ghanaian industry players. “Despite all his efforts, he still can’t match those artists because he’s humble and lets himself be used by the industry. Artists in Ghana need to realize they’re in a business,” he added.
