Following the passing of Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) founder and presidential candidate Akua Donkor, her running mate, Kwabena Agyeman Appiah Kubi, popularly known as Roman Fada, has expressed his readiness to step up as the party’s new presidential candidate for the 2024 election if required by law.
“If the law says I should be the flagbearer, why not? I am ready to take up the mantle,” Roman Fada stated, adding that he hopes his entertainment background will earn him support from industry colleagues.
Roman Fada also provided insight into Madam Akua Donkor’s final days. She fell ill on Saturday, October 26, 2024, and was initially treated at Nsawam Government Hospital. However, she was transferred to Greater Accra Regional Hospital on Sunday, October 27, where she passed at 10 pm on Monday, October 28.
The Ghana Freedom Party, founded by Madam Akua Donkor in 2011 and formally registered in 2012, plans to release an official statement regarding her passing and the future direction of the party.
