Ghanaian dancehall musician Shatta Wale has voiced concerns that his fellow artist, Stonebwoy, has become complacent and lost his originality due to the influence of fame.
Speaking on the “Rants, Bants, and Confession” podcast released on October 31, 2024, Shatta Wale commented that the “Jejereje” hitmaker seems to be “swollen-headed” from his success. “Stonebwoy is just getting swollen-headed with fame because I had an issue with Samini, not him. I don’t even have a problem with him,” Shatta Wale stated.
Shatta went on to say that he has tried reaching out to Stonebwoy several times to settle their differences and discuss how best they can support the music industry. However, he claims these attempts have been unsuccessful. “I have met him a couple of times to see how we can resolve our differences and promote the music industry. They are liars, so they won’t tell you the full story,” he added.
Additionally, Shatta criticized Stonebwoy for the 2019 incident at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, where Stonebwoy pulled a gun on stage during a confrontation. “Stonebwoy and others aren’t being real; they’re full of fake people, and I hate that they’re not genuine. I don’t even have a problem with Stonebwoy, so why should people think otherwise?” he remarked. “He should have been arrested for pulling a gun on me during the VGMA’s. If it were me, I would have been jailed,” Shatta concluded.
