Nyantakyi, who was also a member of the FIFA Council, filed the complaint on Tuesday morning, calling Yeboah’s allegations “reckless and defamatory”. He contends that the statements, suggesting that he withdrew and misappropriated funds from GFA, had no basis in fact and were intended to tarnish his reputation.
The complaint implicates Pulse Ghana and GhanaWeb for their role in spreading Yeboah’s allegations, which Nyantakyi says has caused him serious public and professional harm. According to the file, Yeboah’s words, “President Kwesi Nyantakyi nkoa ko yee GFA Sika two million dollars ($2 million) efee Unibank ko di ye”, translated as “President Kwesi Nyantakyi went to Unibank alone, withdrew the two million of dollars from GFA and appropriated it,” they intended to slander.
The legal team of Lawyer Nyantakyi called out Yeboah and the media for not verifying the facts before publication. Mr Nyantakyi is seeking damages and a formal retraction from all defendants, saying the statements were malicious and intended to tarnish his public image.
