The National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Joana Gyan Cudjoe, its parliamentary nominee for the Amenfi Central Constituency in the Western North Region, have filed a lawsuit against the Electoral Commission (EC) over her disqualification from the December 7, 2024, parliamentary election.
In addition to the lawsuit, the plaintiffs have submitted a motion seeking an interlocutory injunction under Order 25 Rule 1 of C.I. 47.
The injunction aims to stop the EC from printing the Notice of Poll and ballot papers for the Amenfi Central election until the court resolves the matter.
The motion was filed on Thursday, October 17, 2024, following news that the EC had notified Mrs. Cudjoe in a letter dated October 10, 2024, of her disqualification from the race. The plaintiffs are now seeking to halt any further steps related to the election in Amenfi Central until the issue is fully addressed in court.
