Adobewurahene Chief of Adobewora, Nana Boaponsem, has expressed his disappointment with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for choosing Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia as their flagbearer over Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen. Speaking to Alan Kyerematen at his residence, Nana Boaponsem claimed that the party’s election was rigged to favor Bawumia, and criticized the Asantes for not supporting one of their own.
He emphasized that Alan Kyerematen was the ideal candidate to succeed President Akufo Addo, yet his own people failed to support him. Nana Boaponsem questioned the timing of Bawumia’s rise in politics, implying that he was not the best choice for the party.
Despite the controversy surrounding the NPP’s primary elections, with some analysts alleging that delegates were coerced into voting for Bawumia and accusations of President Akufo Addo’s support for Bawumia, Nana Boaponsem encouraged Alan Kyerematen to continue his campaign.
It’s worth noting that Alan Kyerematen has since withdrawn from the NPP presidential race, citing concerns over the party’s internal processes.
