Protesters Who Committed Offences Must Face the Law, Says Kufuor

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor is calling for justice to be served against protesters who committed offenses during the recent Democracy Hub demonstration in Accra. While acknowledging citizens’ right to protest, Kufuor emphasizes that destructive actions, such as property damage and attacks on police officers, are unacceptable and should be punished.

Kufuor stressed the importance of holding those responsible accountable, particularly those who attacked law enforcement officers. He advocates for swift and appropriate action to ensure citizens’ rights to protest are protected while unlawful behavior is addressed according to the law. “If you attack a police officer or take away their car key, you must face the law or be punished. We can’t let them go scot-free,” he said.

Additionally, Kufuor is pushing for a united front against galamsey, highlighting its devastating impact on Ghana’s water bodies and citizens’ well-being. He proposes a multifaceted approach to protect Ghana’s natural heritage, including its forests, water bodies, and weather patterns. “We must find a solution to this menace that affects not only the environment but also the livelihoods of many Ghanaians. We need to work together to find a way to stop the destruction of our natural resources and ensure that our environment is protected for future generations.”
