Rev. Isaac Obofour, founder of the Anointed Palace Chapel, has refuted claims that he, along with other pastors, met with presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama for personal benefits.
This response follows comments by broadcaster Okatakyie Afrifa, who alleged on Angel FM that the purpose of the pastors’ meeting with Mahama was to secure advantages should the NDC return to power. Afrifa stated, “These pastors are hoping to benefit when the NDC assumes power. Rev. Obofour is a shrewd businessman—do you think he wouldn’t gain from it?”
Afrifa further claimed that some pastors are involved in illegal mining (galamsey) and are seeking political favor to retain control over their concessions if the government changes. He mentioned pastors like Sam Korankye-Ankrah and Charles Agyinasare as being involved with the NDC for similar reasons.
In a strong rebuttal, Rev. Obofour dismissed these accusations as false, expressing his frustration: “I am upset that I was included among those supposedly seeking personal interests. I didn’t attend the meeting out of desperation for food or shelter; we went there for Ghana.”
He further clarified that he holds no allegiance to any political party, saying, “I am not affiliated with any party, but if any party calls on me, I will be available.”
The meeting in question took place on October 1, 2024, when John Mahama invited members of the clergy from various denominations—including Catholic, Pentecostal, Charismatic, and spiritual churches—for a session of interaction and prayers.
