Afrobeats superstar Davido has clarified misconceptions about his upbringing, highlighting that, despite his occasional public controversies, he was raised in a respectable family.
During a visit to the Olu of Warri in Delta State on Saturday, Davido addressed the perception that his public behaviour reflects poorly on his family’s values. “I was brought up by great parents. I come from a very respectful family, but sometimes, as OBO [star], I may act out of place,” he explained.
This comes after a recent jab from fellow artist Wizkid, who seemingly criticized Davido’s upbringing by mocking his family. Wizkid posted on X (formerly Twitter), “When you see people raised by their father and family, you’ll know! You don’t see my uncle dancing online!” This was a direct reference to Davido’s uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, who has gained the nickname ‘Dancing Governor’ for his viral dance videos.
