Rev. Christian Kwabena Andrews, popularly known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom, flagbearer and founder of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM), has pledged to evict President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo from his Nima residence if elected president in the upcoming general elections.
Speaking on Ghana Kasa on Kasapa FM, Osofo Kyiri Abosom claimed that the land on which the president’s residence stands was forcefully acquired by Akufo-Addo’s father during his tenure as ceremonial president in the early 1970s.
“You see Akufo-Addo living here? If he had any vision, he wouldn’t still be staying in his father’s house. I will evict him from the area if I become president. That land was originally part of the Nima Police Station until his father took it. We will reclaim the land and expand the police station,” he stated.
Kyiri Abosom further explained that he has historical photos of how the land appeared before it was taken and insisted that as president, he would not provide accommodation for Akufo-Addo as an ex-president after his eviction.
“Why should we offer him a new place? Hasn’t he earned enough to build his own? The state doesn’t provide teachers or nurses with houses after years of service, so why should we do that for former presidents? When I become president, I will abolish ex-gratia,” he added.
