“It was all on merit, not my father’s influence” – Edward Agyekum Kufuor

Edward Agyekum Kufuor, the multiple award-winning actor and son of former President John Agyekum Kufuor, has revealed that his first movie role was earned through merit, not family connections. In an interview with Abeiku Santana on ATUU, the actor, who is also a reverend minister, explained that he went through the audition process like any other aspiring actor.

“On set, Shirley [Frimpong-Manso] gave me a script and took me through auditions. I didn’t expect special treatment because I’m the son of a president. Ironically, I was cast as the vice president, and I delivered as expected,” Edward shared.

He also praised renowned movie producer Shirley Frimpong-Manso for her impact on his acting career. “She knows how to bring out the best in an actor, which helps you carry yourself professionally on set and give your best performance,” he added.

Edward Agyekum Kufuor has starred in films like When Love Comes Around, Blurred Lines, and Wrong Target. He also serves as an executive member of the Governing Council of the Asian-African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AACCI).
