Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer, has made a passionate appeal to Ghanaians to choose him over former President John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming elections. Bawumia’s argument is centered around the idea that Mahama, having already served as president, would only have one term left, limiting his ability to bring about significant changes.
Bawumia cleverly labeled Mahama a “secondhand president,” implying that he would simply return to enjoy the nation’s resources, rather than drive meaningful development. In contrast, Bawumia positioned himself as a “brand-new, tear rubber” president, with the potential to serve two terms and bring about real change.
He highlighted his economic expertise, particularly in digitalizing the economy, which has improved government services and enhanced revenue collection. Bawumia’s digitalization efforts have also streamlined processes and improved efficiency in various sectors.
Meanwhile, Kwasi Bonzoh, NPP parliamentary candidate, called on constituents to vote for change, criticizing the 16-year tenure of NDC MP Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah for lacking significant development. Bonzoh expressed optimism about winning the seat, citing party unity as crucial to his victory, and committed to supporting Bawumia’s governance come 2025.
The President of the Eastern Nzema Traditional Council, Awulae Amihere Kpanyinli, praised Bawumia’s commitment to digitalization and urged for the establishment of STEM education in the Nzema enclave.
