Trump Faces Pressure for Another Debate with Harris

Vice President Kamala Harris has accepted CNN’s invitation to debate former President Donald Trump on October 23, despite Trump’s earlier refusal to participate in any more debates this election cycle. Harris tweeted that she’ll “gladly accept” the debate, hoping Trump will join her. However, Trump has been inconsistent in his responses, initially saying “THERE WILL BE NO THIRD DEBATE” on Truth Social, but later hinting he might reconsider if he’s in the right mood.

The proposed debate would follow the same format as Trump’s June debate with President Joe Biden, broadcast from Atlanta. Trump’s previous debate performance against Harris was widely criticized, with even conservative analysts like Brit Hume calling it a “bad night”. Trump struggled to stay on topic, addressing his criminal cases and spreading unfounded conspiracy theories.

Trump’s campaign spokesperson, Steven Cheung, referred to Trump’s Truth Social post when asked for comment, but Trump hasn’t made a clear statement yet. This debate could be an opportunity for Trump to redeem himself, but it’s unclear if he’ll accept the challenge.

– A vice presidential debate is scheduled for October 1, 2024, between Kamala Harris and Tim Walz or JD Vance.
