To solve loopholes, Rent Control introduces a digital platform.

With the purpose of addressing the shortcomings in Ghana’s conventional rental service system, the Rent Control Department has introduced its digital platform.

Tenants and landlords will be able to do important duties like property registration, complaint filing, and dispute resolution online at rentcontrol.mwh.gov.gh instead of having to physically visit the Rent Control offices.

One of the platform’s primary functions is its capacity to enable digital tenancy agreement signing, which simplifies the leasing process and does away with the need for paper documentation. This feature alone will provide more transparent and safe record-keeping while also saving time.

Furthermore, the platform would list available rental houses on its website, facilitating tenants’ search for housing without the need for middlemen like agents.

Dedicatedness

Speaking at the unveiling yesterday, Dr. Prince Hamid Armah, the Deputy Minister for Works and Housing, stated that the digital platform was evidence of the platform’s dedication to effectiveness, openness, and inclusivity.

We are kicking off a revolutionary change in the way public services are provided in Ghana today, so we’re celebrating more than just a technological breakthrough,” Dr. Armah said.

He added that his organization was dedicated to bringing these advantages to every part of Ghana so that the nation would be recognized as a pioneer in innovative public service delivery in Africa.

“The launch of rentcontrol.mwh.gov.gh represents a new chapter for Ghana’s rental market, promising a more streamlined, transparent and accessible service for all,” stated Mr. Ampofo.

Easy accessibility

According to the deputy minister, the digital platform is currently live in 15 offices spread across 11 areas and is powered by a collaboration with SuperTech Limited.

“This digital revolution aims to level the playing field for all Ghanaians, irrespective of their socioeconomic background or geographic location. It is about more than just convenience. According to Dr. Armah, “We are making sure that everyone has equal access to reasonable and effective rental services.”

Twum Ampofo, the Chief Rent Manager, called the effort a revolutionary step forward.

“The Rent Control Department is at a turning point in its history. Manual procedures have long been a burden on us, frustrating the general public and causing delays. We are at last giving Ghanaians the efficiency and accessibility they deserve with this digital platform,” he stated.

Reducing the need for in-person visits is the aim in order to increase system accessibility, especially for those who reside in rural places.

“This tool will help us do that more effectively. Our department has always been committed to ensuring peaceful coexistence between landlords and tenants.”

Mr. Ampofo stated, “We can now reach Ghanaians wherever they are, without them having to travel great distances to access our services.”

Accept

As a result, Mr. Ampofo urged people to accept the new system.

This platform aims to make rental services more equitable, effective, and available to all Ghanaians—it’s not just about technology. We have no doubt that it will significantly alter how people in this nation see rental services.

Self-assurance

Rev. Stephen Yaw Osei, Chief Director of the Ministry of Works and Housing, emphasized the need to close the communication gap between the department and the communities it served, pointing out that the platform would improve transparency and guarantee adherence to rental laws.

He said that he was confident the platform will reduce landlord exploitation, facilitate quicker dispute resolution, and make information more easily accessible.

The goal of this initiative is to create a system that is more transparent, accessible, and responsive for everyone—not only to embrace technology. We invite everyone to experiment with this new method and offer input as we keep getting better,” he continued.
