Kamala Harris and Donald Trump Attend 9/11 Memorial Service in New York

On Wednesday, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump attended the annual 9/11 memorial service in New York City, commemorating the 23rd anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attacks. The event brought together grieving families, local and national dignitaries, and first responders to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost.

President Joe Biden, who accompanied Harris, and Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, also attended the ceremony. Despite the solemn occasion, the interaction between Harris and Trump was closely watched due to their recent heated presidential debate.

The memorial service included a visit to the World Trade Center site, where relatives read out the names of the victims. No speeches by politicians were planned, in keeping with the bipartisan nature of the event. Biden and Harris then traveled to Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and the Pentagon memorial, to pay their respects.

The White House issued a statement honoring the victims and survivors of 9/11, and President Biden signed a proclamation commemorating the occasion. The statement emphasized the importance of remembering and honoring those affected by the attacks.
