NDC Denies Mahama’s Intent to Cancel Free SHS, Challenges Accusers to Provide Proof

Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has thrown down the gauntlet, challenging Ghanaians to provide concrete evidence that John Mahama, the party’s presidential candidate, ever stated that he would cancel the Free Senior High School (SHS) program if elected.

Speaking during her three-day tour of the Western Region, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang emphasized that Mahama has never made such a statement and dared anyone with proof to come forward. This statement is in response to ongoing accusations that Mahama intends to abolish the Free SHS program, a claim the NDC vehemently denies.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang clarified that the next NDC government would review the Free SHS policy but would not abolish it, noting that the program is an initiative of the NDC. She made this statement at Inchaban in the Shama constituency on the second day of her tour.

Meanwhile, Emelia Arthur, the NDC parliamentary candidate for Shama, pledged her commitment to serving the constituents diligently and bringing much-needed development to the Shama District, which she claims has been lacking under the NPP government.
