At the 2024/2025 Annual Conference in Kumasi, the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) honored President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo with its inaugural lifetime award. GBA President Yaw Acheampong Boafo highlighted the President’s notable achievements and contributions to the legal profession.
Boafo noted that Akufo-Addo was enrolled as a lawyer in 1975 and later became President of the Greater Accra Bar and a member of the GBA’s general council. He also recalled Akufo-Addo’s decision to withdraw his nomination for GBA national president in 1995 due to his political exposure.
The GBA recognized Akufo-Addo’s historic achievement as the first member of the general council to be elected and sworn in as President of Ghana in 2017. In conferring the lifetime award, the GBA acknowledged Akufo-Addo’s outstanding contributions and commitment to the legal profession and the country.
