Security expert and risk analyst, Prof. Emmanuel Aning, has identified unprofessional communication as the Electoral Commission’s (EC) major problem. In a recent interview on Channel One TV’s Point of View program, Prof. Aning criticized the EC for failing to engage with the public in a respectful and clear manner.
He emphasized that the EC has not effectively addressed the public’s concerns, leading to frustration and disappointment. Prof. Aning also noted that the EC has become increasingly dismissive of suggestions and public input, adopting a “closed up” attitude.
“The EC’s biggest challenge is its inability or unwillingness to communicate professionally with Ghanaians,” Prof. Aning stated. “They need to engage in dialogic and explanatory communication that takes into account the concerns of citizens.”
With 87 days left before the election, Prof. Aning urged the EC to become more engaging and address the public’s fears. He stressed the importance of effective communication in building trust and ensuring a successful electoral process.
