Arsenal has completed the signing of Raheem Sterling on a season-long loan from Chelsea. The 29-year-old winger, who was eager to leave Chelsea after being frozen out of the team, joins the Gunners without a loan fee or obligation to buy.
Sterling expressed his excitement about the move, saying, “It’s an unbelievable feeling… I’m buzzing. It’s a perfect fit for me, and I’m super happy we got it over the line.” He cited the team’s togetherness and hunger as key factors in his decision.
Arsenal’s technical director, Edu, acknowledged that Sterling’s signing was not part of their initial transfer plan but made sense given the opportunity. “He has experience, understands the league, and has played in the Champions League many times. He can add a lot to our squad,” Edu said.
Manager Mikel Arteta, who worked with Sterling at Manchester City, praised the winger’s exceptional talent and strong work ethic. Sterling will not feature in Saturday’s match against Brighton but will use the international break to get to know his new teammates.
The signing of Sterling marks Arsenal’s fifth major arrival this summer, following permanent signings Riccardo Calafiori, David Raya, and Mikel Merino, and goalkeeper Neto’s loan move from Bournemouth.
