In a groundbreaking moment, the Chiefs and people of Prampram in the Greater Accra region came together to celebrate their annual Homowo festival without any disturbances for the first time in seven years. This year’s event was a testament to the power of unity and peace, as the community put aside past conflicts to come together in joy and celebration.
The highlight of the festival was the joint appearance of Paramount Stoolfather, Numo Osabu Abbey IV, and the embattled chief of Prampram, Nene Tetteh Wakah II, in a show of solidarity and harmony. The festivities were filled with vibrant drumming, dancing, and a traditional procession led by the Paramount Stoolfather, the chief, and the Queen Mother of Prampram, who sprinkled Kpoikpoi at various clan houses and key locations.
This year’s peaceful celebration was a significant departure from previous years, which were marred by violence and bloodshed due to disputes between factions. Numo Osabu Abbey IV played a crucial role in ensuring the success of this year’s festival, emphasizing the importance of harmony in the community.
In a press address, Numo Osabu Abbey IV urged security agencies to perform their duties diligently during and after the 2024 elections, while also admonishing the youth to do the same. This year’s Homowo festival will be remembered as a milestone in Prampram’s journey towards peace and unity.
