Ghanaian Dancehall artist Charles Nii Armah Mensah, better known as Shatta Wale, has been honoured with a Gold Creator Award plaque from YouTube after surpassing one million subscribers on the video streaming platform.
Shatta Wale’s manager, Sammy Flex, shared the news on Facebook, revealing that the artist had received the award some time ago but had kept it modestly under wraps. “This is for Shatta Wale’s YouTube page for reaching one million subscribers. My man has been hiding it somewhere in his room until I visited his apartment last weekend,” Sammy Flex wrote.
He went on to congratulate Shatta Wale’s loyal fan base, the Shatta Movement, for their unwavering support and praised the “African Dancehall King” for his relentless hard work. “Congratulations to all Shatta Movement fans globally for making this happen, and kudos to our boss Shatta Wale for always working harder than expected. The work brings the results we always enjoy,” he added.
Shatta Wale, who has numerous hit songs and awards to his name, continues to be one of Ghana’s leading music exports. His latest project, a 14-track album titled SAFA, is set to be released on September 20, 2024. The album features singles like “Killa Ji Mi,” “Minamino Sin,” and “Blessing” featuring Amerado, all of which are already gaining significant airplay.
