Nana Okoaben Assan II, the newly enstooled Benkumhene of Enyan Apaa Division in the Central Region, has advised chiefs to reduce their reliance on government for community development. Instead, he encourages them to utilize available resources to drive progress in their areas.
Speaking after his coronation on August 23, 2024, Nana Okoaben Assan II emphasized that chiefs can effect significant change with the resources at their disposal. He suggested refining and leveraging local resources to generate income for community development.
The new chief prioritizes agriculture, given his area’s farming potential, and encourages fellow chiefs to explore aquaculture or crop farming depending on their location’s suitability.
Nana Okoaben Assan II also stressed the importance of education, pledging to collaborate with citizens to enhance the community’s education system. He plans to establish an educational fund within his first 100 days to ensure access to formal education for all young individuals.
Furthermore, he aims to make a meaningful impact through agriculture by establishing a cassava factory within six months, utilizing already available farmland.
