Ramzan Kadyrov, the warlord leader of Chechnya, has unveiled a Tesla Cybertruck mounted with a machine gun, claiming that Elon Musk gifted the vehicle to him. In a video posted on Saturday, Kadyrov is seen driving the Cybertruck and standing behind the machine gun, praising the vehicle’s capabilities.
Kadyrov stated that the Cybertruck was sent to him by Musk, calling him “the strongest genius of our time.” However, Musk later denied giving the vehicle to Kadyrov, calling the claim “retarded” and stating that it’s “yet another example of how much the legacy media lies.”
In the video, Kadyrov is seen driving the Cybertruck through an empty square in Grozny, Chechnya’s capital. He then gets out of the truck and stands behind the machine gun, with an ammunition belt draped around his neck. Kadyrov praised the vehicle’s characteristics, calling it “invulnerable,” “fast,” “comfortable,” and “maneuverable.”
Kadyrov announced plans to send the Cybertruck to the “special military operation zone” in Ukraine, using the Russian euphemism for its invasion. He expressed confidence that the vehicle would bring benefits to Russian fighters.
Ramzan Kadyrov has been the leader of Chechnya since 2007, installed by Russian President Vladimir Putin. He has been criticized for alleged human rights violations, including torture and extrajudicial killings. The US State Department sanctioned him in 2020, and he has also been sanctioned by the United Kingdom and European Union.
Elon Musk unveiled the Tesla Cybertruck in 2019, and it retails from around $90,000 in the United States. After Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Musk provided Starlink satellite internet service to Kyiv, which has been used by Ukraine’s military to carry out operations against Russia.
