Massive Promotions Hit Ghana Immigration Service: 882 Officers Benefited

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has announced a significant promotion of 882 officers, comprising 446 Senior Officers and 436 Junior Officers, to their next ranks. This move aims to align departmental heads, schedules, regional, and sector commands with ranks commensurate with their current positions and create new vacancies following the establishment of new departments, sectors, sections, and units.

The promotions include:

– 223 Assistant Superintendents promoted to Deputy Superintendents of Immigration
– 85 Deputy Superintendents of Immigration promoted to Superintendents
– 51 Assistant Commissioners of Immigration promoted to Deputy Commissioners of Immigration
– 17 Chief Superintendents promoted to Assistant Commissioners of Immigration

The Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kwame Asuah Takyi, explained that the promotions aim to boost morale, ensure discipline, and improve command and control in pursuit of professional migration management, secure borders, and overall national security. The GIS has expanded its operations, increasing sectors from 14 to 89 and inland checkpoints from 6 to 58, and elevated 10 sections to departments, bringing the total to 19.

The promotions were approved by the GIS Governing Council, in accordance with the Immigration Service Regulations, 2016 (L.I.2245), and are part of management’s efforts to enhance administration, deployment, and operations at various commands.
