Hon Andrew Egyapa Mercer, the Tourism Minister and Member of Parliament for the Sekondi Constituency, has unleashed a withering critique of the NDC parliamentary candidate for Sekondi, Blay Nyameke Armah. Mercer’s remarks, made during the launch of his campaign committee in Nkotompo, centered on Armah’s questionable claim to be a lawyer.
Mercer asserted that Armah has never attended law school, yet presents himself as a legal expert to impress the Sekondi constituency. This, Mercer argued, demonstrates Armah’s lack of integrity and unfitness for public office.
Expanding his attack, Mercer warned Ghanaians against the “lies and propaganda” of former President Mahama, whom he accused of seeking to exploit Ghana’s natural resources for his family’s benefit if re-elected. Mercer characterized Mahama’s presidential ambitions as a “cruel agenda” detrimental to the nation’s well-being.
In contrast, Mercer endorsed Dr. Bawumia as a visionary leader capable of transforming Ghana through digitization. He urged Ghanaians to support Bawumia, describing him as an “accountable” leader, in stark contrast to Mahama, whom he disparaged as a “dead goat leader.”
Western Regional Secretary Hon Okatekyir Amankwah Afrifa (OKT) joined Mercer in criticizing the NDC, asserting that the party has failed to initiate social intervention programs benefiting the youth. OKT questioned whether this was the kind of leadership the country’s youth desired, further emphasizing the NDC’s shortcomings.
