John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has made a compelling appeal to Ghanaians to vote for him and his running mate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, in the 2024 general elections. In a statement issued on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, Mahama urged the electorate to reject what he described as the “corrupt, greedy, and arrogant” New Patriotic Party (NPP) government and bring about a change in leadership.
Mahama criticized the current NPP administration, accusing it of imposing socio-economic hardships on Ghanaians through misrule. He emphasized the need to reject the arrogance and corruption of the Akufo-Addo Bawumia government to rebuild the nation.
“On 7th December, I will need your vote to RESET our beloved country, Ghana, fix the broken economy, create decent and well-paying jobs for the youth through the 24-hour economy initiative, and establish a National Women’s Bank to provide financial assistance to one million women businesses,” Mahama stated.
He committed to restoring the dignity and prestige of the presidency if elected, pledging to investigate and punish corrupt NPP officials, abolish the COVID and E-levies, scrap ex-gratia, and reduce the size of the government to a maximum of sixty ministers.
“With your votes, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang and I will restore dignity, humility, vision, and experience to the presidency. God bless you for deciding to vote for change on December 7,” Mahama concluded.
