The running mate of the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, boldly asserted that no president, including the nation’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, has developed Ghana as extensively as the current President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

NAPO’s comment has generated a mixed reaction on social media, with some hailing Akufo-Addo’s achievements and others vehemently disagreeing with the comparison. While some argue that Akufo-Addo’s development projects surpass those of his predecessors, others believe that NAPO’s statement disrespects Nkrumah’s legacy as Ghana’s founding father.

Nkrumah’s supporters point to his significant contributions to Ghana’s independence and early development, including the construction of the Akosombo Dam, the Tema Motorway, and the establishment of various state-owned enterprises.
