The Minister of Interior, Henry Quartey, announced that nearly 90,000 individuals have applied to join Ghana’s security services, with only 12,000 positions available. The recruitment drive, which closed on August 13, 2024, saw a significant response from applicants who had previously expressed interest in 2021.
Quartey emphasized that the security agencies will rigorously apply their eligibility criteria to select qualified candidates from the large pool of applicants. “All 90,000 applicants will be subject to the security agencies’ criteria to determine who qualifies for admission,” he said.
Parliament has approved a budget for the recruitment of approximately 12,000 new personnel across the security services. Quartey noted that the agencies will have to select the most qualified candidates to fill the available positions.
