The 2025 edition of the “Meko Bono” Festival will climax on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Odomase in the Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono Region, the organisers said on Thursday.

Celebrated in August every year, the festival highlights and portrays the rich cultural heritage of the chiefs and people of the Bono Region and further seeks to build and strengthen family tides.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) Mr. Seth Kofi Yeboah, the Deputy Director and Manager in-Charge of Operations, Bono Fie, the organisers of the festival said this year’s event commenced on Monday August 4, 2025, with several activities.

They include the official launch of the festival, an intercity football competition, a clean-up exercise, a gospel rock show, a regional tour, health screening and blood donation exercises as well as traditional dance and performances.

The event will feature the ‘Bono Hemaa Beauty Pageant’, street carnival and artist night.

Mr. Yeboah lauded the high level of public interest and enthusiasm in the 2025 celebration, describing it as remarkable and exceptional.

He said: “Even at TikTok, Meko Bono is trending, the community and the Bono people have really embraced the festival and thereby making this year’s event one of the best so far.”

Mr. Yeboah explained that a grand durbar would be held at Odomase Senior High School Park, expected to be attended by high-profile personalities including chiefs and queens, politicians and government officials.

He said: “The festival continues to evolve each year, gaining admiration and recognition across the region”, and urged the Bono people and Ghanaians in general to participate and help market the rich culture and tradition of the people.”
