2025 BCTC Independence Day Tennis Competition Ends Successfully

The Burma Camp Tennis Club (BCTC) marked Ghana’s 68th Independence Day anniversary with international friendly tennis tournament.
The one-day event came off on Saturday March 8, 2025, and saw BCTC play the Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB) Golf and Country Club Tennis Section of Nigeria.
Ghana’s BCTC and IBB Tennis-Section of Nigeria have a tradition of an annual tennis tournament organised in commemoration of respective country’s Independence Day.
The event featured retired and serving senior military officers and civilian colleagues of the two countries.
Speaking to the Media, AVM Asante Deputy Chief of Staff at the General Headquarter of the Ghana Armed Forces said the tournament was to continue to maintain the friendly relations between the two countries.
He said, “this tournament has been in existence for 11 to 12 years and is just to share comradeship and join hands in friendship for the two countries.”
“Tennis is a very good sport, you can see on the court that above 75 years men are playing and how strong they are.”
“We also encourage people to join the club not only here in Ghana but in Nigeria too.”
Obinali Ossi Agugua, the Head of the Organising Committee from IBB Tennis-Section said,
“We are so happy to be in Ghana again, any time we come here we see changes especially the tennis court.” The last time we came, we never saw this building. Kudos to Mr. President. We happy to be here.”
“As we all know, we will be engaging them in October as we also be celebrating our Independence. We are brothers and we have to host and win.”
The participants from BCTC included AVM Dr Felix Nana Asante, Dr Lt Col Ralph Ntumi (Rtd), Mr Edwin Asare Yeboah, DCOP Dr David Agyemang Adjem, Mr Charles Dodoo, Mr Kwasi Nkansa, Air Cdre A A Appiah (Rtd), Dr Patrick Banka, Ing Kwasi Danso, Abieku Bentsi, Wng Cdr Bawa(Rtd), Col Amuzu, Ing George Aidoo, Ing Kwame Nkrumah, and Cdre GN Kyaanu.
